In 1947, Françoise Sullivan first came into contact with the music and dance of black Harlem neighbourhoods in New York. At the time, she choreographed Black and Tan, to the music of Duke Ellington, which she performed the following year in Montreal in the famous dance recital at Ross House. The documentary takes us behind the scenes to the re-creation of the work, as performed today by dancer Ginette Boutin in the artist’s studio and on stage in a deserted bar.
