Campground is a story about acceptance. Hannah, our protagonist, has lost trust in her father, Foster, after he committed her to two years in a mental institution. Only Hannah’s sister, Tara, resisted, believing that Hannah was not mentally ill. Upon her return home, things are difficult. Hannah is quiet, withdrawn, and her father is in a state of borderline denial, unwilling or unable to accept that anything might be outside his realm of control. As they struggle to come to terms with one another, someone from Foster’s past returns to threaten the family. If Hannah is to save them, she must defy her father and embrace the truth about herself, a truth buried so deep even she does not quite believe.
