Sam is a soldier with post traumatic stress who returns from duty to his family by the sea but is constantly tortured by the past sights and sounds of the battlefield. On the way home on the beach he meets another ex-soldier who is bird-watching who immediately recognises his shell shock and offers a tab of LSD to relieve the stress. Sam reluctantly accepts, not expecting to use it but not wishing to offend the man. At home his wife finds it difficult on understand Sam’s sudden rages, his attempt to drown himself in the bath and throttling her in his sleep. At the end of his tether, in the garden Sam puts a pistol in his mouth but which fails to fire and he takes a dose of the LSD he has been given. The garden then becomes a multi-coloured fantastic universe. He makes his way to some nearby cliffs, where in a drug-induced vision, he sprouts wings and flies over the cliff top to end spreadeagled on the sand below. Sam is played by Ryan Enever the writer of the piece, an ex-soldier himself and PTSD sufferer.
